Started collecting vinyl in 1989 and have gone through waves of enthusiasm and down time with it over the years, it currently stands around the 2,800 mark. I mostly just focus on LP's but recently started getting into 45's, I have about 200 but not many are listed here & I only really started since buying a vinyl jukebox as a mid-life crisis present to myself. Main collection is mostly the usual general classic rock & pop from the mid 60's- early naughties with a few side genres like hiphop/electro, funk/soul/disco, metal/punk, country, kids, soundtracks & first nation artists. Despite liking them I don't collect jazz or EDM as they are too expansively overwhelming.
My main specialty genre though is traditional folk music, mostly anglo celtic stuff but also interested in balkan & some random European cultures. My big passion is traditional Irish music (mainly the instrumental stuff) and I have over 300 LP's in this category alone.
Most of my collection are original pressings, many of them 1st's & my preference is to get pressings from each artist's country of origin. I generally avoid modern legacy reissues and only get them when I wasn't quick enough back in the day to buy certain classics before they started exclusively selling for $500+ (Nick Drake for instance).
My for sale list is mostly my doubles. I consider myself a collector rather than a trader.
