i think it is important to note that the digital version of this album is highly-compressed. as this album came out in 2001 [death of vinyl years] it likely was not mastered with this format in mind. unless we get a specific remaster from the og tapes for vinyl i think this really is as good as it's going to sound, and i really think this pressing is true to the material. can't get blood from a stone.

Mine skips in a few spots on the B side. Sounds ok, but that's a real bummer.

I'll also add myself to the short few who really liked how this pressing came out. It doesn't have to shake my floors, but it has to be a clean mix...and it is. I'm sure it's not as impressive as the first pressing probably is (or any potential SRC reissues that'll come out eventually), but it's more than adequate. Wouldn't skip if you don't currently own it.

I was having the same issues, stopped feeling crazy when I read the other comments. I was bummed the record wasn't hitting like it normally does. The low output definitely makes it more lifeless. I find adding some EQ gives it more bang.

Oddly enough I think this pressing sounds pretty damn good compared to some of the other commenters.

However, my side B wobbles noticeably on the outros to "Cautioners" and "Splash Turn Twist."

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm hesitant to try and exchange it for fear I might get a worse copy.

Incredibly disappointing pressing of an otherwise great album. Flat, lifeless, and way way too quiet.

The EU pressing sounds a little better than the US pressing. I'm not saying the EU pressing sounds awesome, but in comparison, the US pressing has lower dynamic range.

It's a little quiet out of the gate. You will need to crank this an extra 20 percent, but vinyl is flat and the sonics are acceptable for a $20 record.

Very poor pressing IMO. 99% of the records I own shake the floor at around 40% levels, this one has to be maxed out over 100% to get the same but distortion degrades it at the volume I'd like to hear. Combined with 10+ months of delays, you'd think they'd get it right. Levels song to song also vary making it hard to listen to without constant intervention. And typos in the lyric sheet. It's still my favorite album and I have it on vinyl now which is nice but I expected a higher baseline of quality especially with the wait.
